Maybe this will help somebody

Post by dinycat » Mon Apr 28, 2014 7:53 pm

Initially, I was fitted with a Mirage Quattro full face mask in medium size. It leaked and I struggled with its heaviness on my face, so was switched to the
Quattro Air for Her, which was infinitely better--but still not quite perfect. I fiddled with RemZZZ's and Lansinoh, but they were too hot, and too greasy for me. I felt there had to be something better.

Then, I started thinking about size, and questioned whether a medium was right for me, even though I'm 5'9" and not a small woman. I started comparing my facial features to other peoples--my husband's, daughter's, and sister's. MY NOSE AND MOUTH ARE MUCH CLOSER IN RELATIONSHIP TO EACH OTHER THAN THEIRS.

Upshot: the medium masks were all too big for me, allowing a lot of wasted, unneeded area, and "fell" on my face at the wrong place. Thus, the leaks, and discomfort with so much equipment on my face. Now I'm fitted with a small-sized mask, snug and tight, and it's about "as good as it gets".

This might help one of you who's struggling with mask leaks and discomfort, too. It's worth a shot.

I have Quattro Air medium, and like you, I switched to the small thinking that it might do better with the leaks... but no, the medium actually works better as long as I use RemZzzzs... but I don't use lansinoh. I keep the small for a backup.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

You're right. Body size doesn't always correlate to our features and their placement on our face. Got a friend who is "a man of substantial size" and it was assumed he'd need a large mask. Nope. I'm sure your mention of it that will help somebody.

Definitely size isn't the final indicator. I'm a 233 pound woman and I wear 3X clothes but I wear an xsmall Quattro Air for Her cpap mask. Go figure.
