bwexler - thank you for that information. I don't want to start off accusing them of anything when they haven't yet denied my request, they haven't fought me on anything. I will call my doctor and discuss it professionally. I don't want to put my doctor, the DME or the RRT on the defensive before they've actually done something to deserve me doing that. I hope that doesn't sound unappreciative. I'm just one week into this process. Granted I wish I had found information before my machine was given to me, but now that I do know more, I'm asking for more. That may be naive, but I'd like to give them the chance to get it right before I start making demands.

For what it's worth, totally agree with you. Sometimes people can surprise you with their willingness to help and they deserve the benefit of the doubt. It's just a good thing to have all the info from all the great people here so that you can fight if you need to.

Good luck!

I do understand. You sound just like my wife.
I was lucky enough to find this site before I got my first machine. I also had a friend who is an MD and on CPAP. I had him write my prescription and he sent me to his small local DME. I had no problem getting exactly what I asked for that time.
But latter my insurance placed restrictions on my choice of DME. Things changed, not for the better. With the help I found here and some persistence I still tend to get what I want.
Many of the folks who answer the phones now recognize my voice and do their best to cooperate or at least explained why they can't comply and what has to happen before they can provide what I want.
I haven't yet gone to my congressman, but have gotten close.

Thank you and absolutely - this place has been a wealth of info and I appreciate it so much! I hope I don't have a fight on my hands, but if I do, I know I will find the support I need here.

LoL - thank you for understanding. I wish I had done more research but I think my fear got the best of me in this case - I usually research and google everything and scare the pants off myself. This time, I just couldn't. I wish I had. I would have had the information I needed before my appointment last monday. Hopeful that it doesn't bite me in the butt now.

Thank you - I hope you're feeling better, too!
