And now for mask number 5

Post by chirurgeon » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:17 pm

Got my Airfit P10 this afternoon. Will be trying it tonight. Fingers crossed. I was using the Swift FX nasal pillow before, but as a side sleeper, it was slipping a touch because of the head gear. Hopefully the softer head gear will be better. And the exhaust won't bug me when I sleep.

Hope that the P10 works for you. The headgear is softer than the Swift FX headgear, but it didn't work for me. Loved the quietness of it, though. Hopefully you have a more regulation size and shaped head than I do *smile*. I've also tried the new nasal and nasal pillow masks as they come out, and haven't had a lot of luck with anything except the Swift FX. I have to wear it a little tighter than I'd like (but it isn't painful or pig-nosy) because I'm between nasal pillow sizes, but it works for me as a side sleeper, and an active one at that *smile*.

Anyways, I wish you good luck with your new mask...sleep well!

Have you thought that it might actually be your bed pillow and not the mask itself?
If you're using a "standard" fiberfill pillow, your head may be sinking into it too far and dislodging your mask(s).
There are bed pillows which have been designed for or work better with this therapy.

Down pillow on top of fiber pillow. I think I could adjust on that, my big thing is how I like to sleep, covers pulled up over my shoulders and they were amplifying the noise from the exhaust. And it was blowing on my hands and arms. It's the little things that bug me beyond tolerance in trying to sleep.

Not fond of the venting from the Swift FX, either. I do sleep with earplugs, so I miss out on a lot of the noise which is good, but the venting does deflect off the blankets and blow on my hands and arms if I don't position myself fairly carefully to initially get to sleep. And doesn't work well when I pull the covers over my head in the morning to avoid the sunlight (I must be part bat or something *smile*). So I sometimes end up sleeping with it for 6 or 7 hours, and then taking it off in the morning so I can get back to sleep to try for the elusive 8 hours of sleep *smile*. Works okay as long as I stay sleeping on my side, but am looking forward to trying crossing the P10 nose part with the Swift FX headgear to see how that goes.

Oh yeah, I also find that the pillow that I use matters, in terms of how my mask gets pushed on as a side sleeper. This is the one that I'm currently using, like the height and the firmness and shape is helpful:
