Resmed Autoset CS-A Replaced S9 ASV?

Post by 70sSanO » Mon Mar 24, 2014 11:11 am

I have an appointment with a pulmonologist that my doctor recommended to go over my sleep study and my central events. He will write the prescription.

My doctor has been talking about going to an ASV machine, so I have been checking out what machines are out there.

I went on the Resmed site to get the VPAP ASV part numbers and I was sent to a web page with an Autoset CS-A with PaceWave (P/N 36371).

It looks like this machine is replacing the S9 VPAP ASV machine.

Anyone have any info if this is a good thing or bad?

Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, the S9 VPAP Adapt is still available:

http://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/pr ... adapt.html

I am not aware that anything is going to replace it. The VPAP ASV was an older S7 based unit.

That being said, Resmed has introduced several new models of xPAP devices, including

VPAP COPD
VPAP ST-A with iVAPS

Still, for central apneas the S9 VPAP Adapt is the best choice.

You were probably on the "Asia Pacific" ResMed site:

Change location to United States.

Sludge,

I went and checked and you are right it was Asia Pacific. Since the brochure said that is was based on the award winning S9 platform, I decided to send the question off to Resmed.

John,

You are right, I should have referred to the machine as S9 VPAP Adapt. The only part numbers I found were 36007 and 36037. I want to have my ducks in a row in case I am given a prescription for an ASV.

The 36037 is the auto version. You have 3 selections cpap, asv, and auto asv. The 36007 is the older version just cpap and asv.

Squid,

Thanks for the info. I want to have that referenced on the prescription so I can be ready to do battle with my DME. Having a specific machine on a prescription is not something I want to do, but I think it is necessary. I printed out a list of DME's in my plan within a 250 miles; not all of them deal with sleep equipment.

I plan to take my prescription and my list and tell them what I want and if they balk, I'll tell them I have another 25 more pages to go through and I'll get back to them.
