The Wisp is a Respironics over the nose nasal cushion mask. Doesn't cover the mouth.
Were you trying it since they had it and don't have the Nano?
I am trying to determine if I need to find you a Nano...if you didn't like the Wisp..if that is what you tried...I won't bother looking further for the Nano because the nasal cushions are real similar and I suspect you won't care for it as it fits in about the same place between the nose and lip unless she tried the biggest size they had.

If the other mask that you tried covered your mouth..it wasn't the Wisp.

The Wisp

The cushions are similar in design...the headgear is totally different with the Nano.

So that's why I am being nosy about the mask you didn't care for as much.
If it covered your mouth it was some other full face mask.
If your mouth was uncovered it was some sort of nasal cushion mask.
I don't want to send you something that won't work well.

That was the mask.......the "Wisp". I may actually take this one back and give it a try after all. I liked it and it was comfortable just worried about the lip thing. I think the Nano would work for me because of the minimalist headgear. I expressed the fact that we should be trying these on lying down with the machine on. She said that would be good but I only got to try it with a machine on sitting down at 5.0 pressure. When I lay down with the Wisp here at home I thought........hmmm......this thing on my forehead is probably not going to work!........lol! She does not have sleep apnea but her husband does. She says she occasionally sleeps with a machine and mask to get an extra good night of sleep so she knows how it feels.....not sure I agree....it's one thing to wear it once in a while voluntarily and quite another to wear it for the rest of your life!

There's a reason I don't own a full face mask..and in nearly 5 years I haven't had a situation where I couldn't breathe well enough where I wouldn't just have to have one.
Even with a bad cold..I can manage to get my nose opened up a little and I have found the humidified air actually helps the congestion.

Forehead thing...no way in hell.
A lower strap that comes around the base of my skull..no way in hell. Tried everyone that my DME had because someone here told me I would die a thousand deaths if I caught a bad cold and wasn't able to breathe through my nose so I just HAD to have one. That lower back strap needed hurt my poor old neck big time. He and I both decided I would just have to die a thousand deaths because that was preferable over the neck pain and associated headache...and no...I didn't have it too tight.

I also have this thing where pressure on my nose causes congestion..like even with my glasses..where they rest on my nose they will cause congestion and that's why I use Titanium frames. The least little thing on my nose causes immediate congestion...
The Wisp..I thought would work but it caused congestion...the Nano didn't and I was successful using it all night.
The Wisp I lasted 86 minutes and woke up a gazillion times with stopped up nose..pulled the cushion off my nose...immediately it cleared up..went back to sleep only to have it happen again and again. When I finally said screw it and put my Tap Pap back on I thought maybe I had gone most of the night with it as it seemed like it was forever but it was only 86 minutes when I check the report and saw the time the machine was off when I made the change.

I don't know why the Wisp did it and the Nano didn't. I really thought the Nano would do the same thing but it must be made just different enough to not cause the problem.

Now I really don't care what mask someone uses. My job isn't to change their mind or make someone use a mask that I use.
My job is to try to help with cpap therapy as best I can and if they want to use a different mask that's fine but when someone tells me they don't want to use so and so type of mask...hey that's okay. I just try to help make whatever mask they WANT to use ...work. It doesn't matter to the the reason either. The fact that they either want or don't want is good enough reason for me.
For this reason I don't jump right in and tell people that they just HAVE to have a full face mask...there's always some sort of option to try before going down that road. If they don't want to go down that road..then lets try an alternate route.
Even with mouth breathing there are options and sometimes they work and sometimes they don't but hurts nothing to try if that is what someone wants to do.

You tell me you are claustrophobic...so I suggest things that have minimal impact on the face. Even if you did have to use a full face mask..there are others with less of an impact on the face than one with a forehead bar.

See if you can get the Wisp and like it enough...you didn't have to give up the AirFit P10 did you?
I will continue looking for a Nano

thanks, Pugsy. No, I love the AirFit. I am sticking with it. The nasal mask is just a trial as a second mask. I went upstairs again and tried the fx and promptly had another panic attack.....just too closed in for me....it is going back. The forehead thing drove me nuts and the mask itself felt like I couldn't breathe. Felt like I was in the movie "Saw" or "Hostel".... I tried the mask at the new 9.0 minimum pressure and then tried ramp.....then I panicked....... pitiful, but I don't want to take Ativan just to go to sleep....I really ought to know better as I went through this back when I first was diagnosed and could not wear anything put the pillow one, the one with the barrel.....I think it maybe was the Swift II or whatever; the one out in 2007. Not a fun way to spend a Friday night......my chest is still tight and my pulse is racing......cuddling on the couch with the dogs for comfort and trying breathing techniques I heard about here.
