DC adapter for respironics machine

Post by idahogal » Wed Jun 28, 2006 5:03 pm

Ok, broke down today and got a dc adapter for my machine. I will be camping this weekend for the first time since starting cpap. My 5th wheel has the cigarette lighter plugs in it already. Is this adapter all I will need for camping? Will I be able to use my humidifier and run all night? I am running a deep cycle marine battery in my rig. Thanks

Idahogal,

See the discussion in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=10397&start=15.

The DC power supply will only power the xPAP, not the humidifier. You can still use the humidifier as passover, unheated.

How long you can go on battery depends on lots of things, including what your pressure is set at and what you use else you use your batteries for. Also, what type of batteries you have. Most RVs have 2 deep cycle marine batteries for the house batteries. If you were just running your xPAP, these would probably be good for many days, but I assume you'll be running the lights and all the usual coach stuff as well.

Thank you for such a quick response. I will be using the lights and stuff as well but I will run the generator for those times. We are camping "off the beaten path" but with some other people as well who are in tents and I just did not want to have to run the noisy generator all night. I am so glad to know that I will not have to go one night without my cpap. I am not so sure I would go if I had to leave my trusty machine behind. I am kind of in the frame of mind "why should I go if I am just going to be miserable during the day".

No problem.

You shouldn't have any problem at all if your batteries are in good shape and you are going to run the generator at all during the day.

Happy camping!
