Sue, what other site are you using? As a newbie, I'm looking for as much information and support as I can.

I have been reading this site for a while and was dismayed by your experience. I have found a lot of good information on this site. There are a lot of helpful people, but there are also some who have forgotten what it was to be a newbie (either for CPAP or internet forums in general) and instead of kindly helping people through learning the "way things are done" and give friendly instructions on how to improve the question in order to get a worthwhile response, they are quick to jump down your throat and make a joke at your expense.

I have been reading several other CPAP forums and some of the others are more geared to newbies. This one seems more geared to the veteran.

How about trying to be kind and guide someone to the correct way of asking for information instead of spewing nastiness to them. When I joined this group, it DID NOT ask me any information about myself other than a user name and email. How would I know that I had to fill out a profile? There wasn't one nice or helpful word out of any one from this group, yet two new people chimed in and saw the same thing that I did....nastiness. I wouldn't join this group to save my life. Maybe you should all go back and reread what you wrote to someone who was just looking for a simple answer. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for treating someone like this. And now to find the delete button.

Really doubtful. The other groups are not allowed to provide information, only pats on the back. You could of course have used the search box here and gotten a ton of info about humidifiers.

Oh and because you couldn't bother to become a member you have no delete or edit button. You vitriol and embarasment will stay here forever.

That is price you pay for free advice. And it is not geared to veterans but to intelligent people who want to control their therapy.

Just a few observations:

I am a new users, and everyone has been very helpful to me; most have been very gracious with that help.

The original post, and several of the 'supportive' posts claiming "how rude" everyone was seem to all be unregistered (i.e., hit and run) and for those who are suspicious one might wonder if they are even different people??? (No way for us to be sure, but it is interesting...)

One or two of the first answers WERE "curt" but would never qualify as "rude" on even unhelpful.

Asking for information when trying to solve a problem or offer advice is almost always a necessity unless the original poster is an experienced trouble shooter themselves and posts ALL that info to start.

Maybe throwing in a few "please" and "thank you"s or sweetening up the request for info a little wouldn't hurt but there was NOTHING to put the OPs nose out of joint, and certainly nothing to draw such "support" from the other unregistered posters.

If you want help -- ask a good question.

If someone doesn't answer the way you wish, ignore their post.

Page down and next are very trivial choices.

And if you are real and not just a troll, then PLEASE just keep asking and give the info as the people here in general are VERY GRACIOUS and VERY HELPFUL (said as a newbie myself -- less than a week -- and not claiming to be one of those helpful people yet.)
