First night experience!

Post by ironhands » Sat Jan 25, 2014 4:50 pm

So, after 7 months of waiting, 2 PSG's, an MSLT, 4 specialist visits, and 2 GP visits, I finally have a CPAP.

Just a trial unit for a month, ResMed S9 Auto, with a Wisp nasal mask.

Had 103 arousals on my last PSG, AHI of 16 on my back, many hypopneas. O2 sat dropped to 83 at one point, but generally sat around 88-93.

First night on the machine, never having used one before, down to 3.1. Didn't seem hard to adjust to, on a pressure of 7, though, I did feel like I was hyperventilating at one point. Also felt like I had been grinding my teeth - my upper front teeth felt strange.

Also felt like the mask was riding high under my nose, might need to play with the straps a bit.

feeling pretty damn good today.

That's great news. With the Wisp mask riding up you may try something like this. It's a bike cuff strap that loops around the lower frame arms and keeps the mask in place. It's shown here with a Quattro FX but I use the same strap for my Wisp too:

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
