CPAP, BILEVEL AND APAP DIFFERENCES
CPAP, BILEVEL AND APAP DIFFERENCES
I have used all of the different machines over the years. I would like to know the specific use for each machine and what each machine should treat best. Why is one machine recommended over another? Can a CPAP user use a APAP machine or Bilevel with same results?
Re: CPAP, BILEVEL AND APAP DIFFERENCES
Cpap's the basic one. Apap is Cpap but with the advantage of being able to 'roam' up from your set lower pressure (the prescription one) to a higher one to catch events that go higher, plus you can use it for home titration by seeing where your overnight pressures tend to level off on their own and setting your machine accordingly. Apap's also 'do' plain Cpap, but Cpap's do not do Apap.
Bi-level (Bipap) is for when you need a really high pressure that is better addressed by that machine as C and Apaps only go to 20.
