My granddaughter is a first year special ed teacher in middle school going for her Masters.. Her students have some severe learning disabilities as well as behavioral problems. She finally discovered a way to get them involved by making up flash cards with different titles and having them pick one without looking. Their assignment was to give an example of what their card meant. The kids really got excited about their pick and worked hard to come up with examples and their was lots of hands raised and interested interaction in class and everyone was well behaved. Her greatest joy is that they understood what she was trying to teach them. They hoped they could "play" cards again with different topics. I don't know all the details of what happened at the weekly teacher's meeting but the Principal is going to incorporate my baby's experiment into the weekly curriculum and will also present it to the head of the whole district. She sent me a copy of the cards she made up and I said, Hey, some of these apply to my Sleep Apnea buddies in a very profound way so I'd like to post them here.
ACHIEVEMENT - Achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself!
AMBITION - Many of life's failures occur when people give up without realizing how close they were to success.
CHALLENGE -The greater the difficulty the more glory in surmounting it.
COMMITTMENT - Success is largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.
CONFIDENCE - The surest way not to fail is to determine to succeed.
DETERMINATION - It's the desire to succeed which determines success!
PERSEVERENCE - The greatest joy lies not in never falling but in rising again every time we fall.
PERSISTENCE - Challenge is what makes life interesting, overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.
SUCCESS - It's hard to fail but it's worse to never have tried to succeed.
TEAMWORK - There's no such thing as a self-made person, you will reach your goals only with the help of others.

Re: OT: Rules for Success!
Congratulations Dori, to you and your granddaughter!
She sure is right about applying these principals along the road to successful xPAP use. I'll add a plus one to all, and an extra to #2.

Dori, when she has you for a mentor I believe she will always be a resounding success.
She is a chip off the old block for sure.

Yes, those insights are applicable to so much we face in life. Thanks for sharing. The children under her influence are blessed.
