Not quite a newbie
Not quite a newbie Hello. I curently live and work in the Netherlands but am British born and bred. The CPAP I use is a phillips respironics system 1 with humidifier and a "Mirage FX for her" nasal mask. I have been "using" my CPAP machine for the last 12 months. However due to a badly deviated septum I was not able to use the nasal mask with any success. I was not get getting a lot of help from my sleep center, all they suggested was a chin strap to keep my mouth shut. After 6 months of struggle i went to my GP and had a chat with him and I ended up being booked for an operation to straighten the septum and reduce the nasal turbinations, which I had about 4 months ago. About 4 weeks after the operation I started using the CPAP again and BINGO!! 1st night I slept for 9 hrs without waking. I was originally using a Zest mask but the "bar" and cushions across my forehead were really hurting me, even without the straps being over tightened. The Mirage is much better, much more comfortable. I found this site because I was looking for info on how to prevent the condensation problem inside the mask which for me was so bad I was waking several times in the night to wipe away the excess moisture. I have found a lot of helpful info and am glad to have found a site where other users congregate and help each other. Thank you.

Welcome and by the way, you just helped me with your intro post which I thank you profusely for.
For two years, I have been unable to stay asleep on the machine for any significant amount of time in spite of trying everything. Thanks to Obama Care, I am now going to have the exact same surgery around the beginning of February in the hopes I will have the same result.
Knowing you experienced an immediate improvement really is encouraging to me. Thank you.

PS I hope the op sorts your problems out - my specialist did point out to me that the operation is not always 100% successful when carried out for this particular reason. However you should be breathing easier, and you can always use a nasal spray to further "open" your passages. I wish you sweet dreams and deep sleeps, once the op has been carried outDutchBrum1 wrote:49er wrote: DutchBrum1,
