Pilairo Comfort

Post by ThisIsMyUserName » Tue Jan 14, 2014 11:31 am

So for various reasons discussed elsewhere I'm stuck with the Pilairo nasal pillows at least for a while, and would appreciate any insight or advice from users on how to make this more comfortable. The work great from an apnea perspective (no leaks, great AHI), but aren't very comfortable. The first major problem (nasal irritation) I have licked with daily applications of lanolin at night and vaseline in the morning (annoying but sustainable). The second comfort issue, though, is that, while the headgear is super-comfortable, the mask itself just feels like a big weight on my upper lip and I find it annoying, and I'm only reasonably comfortable when lying on my side so that the mask is held up by my pillow. A hose hanger solves the second issue mostly, but the feeling that I have a paperweight stuck between my mouth and nose seems unsolvable. I haven't seen any barrel cozies or other glorious things for Pilairo. Ideas? Much appreciated!

Hello, I am new to cpap but I use the same mask. It was the one I used on my titration study. I like the mask but I do agree that it is a little heavy. I have not figured out how to get it from resting on my upper lip either. But, for some reason I have gotten use to it. I will wake up adjust and go back to sleep. Try it for a time longer and see how it goes. I know that you have to go through several masks to find the right one for you. What works for one does not work for another. Good Luck.
