Cleaning Resmed S9
I have had a Resmed S9 with the Swift FX headgear. I have used distilled water and clean it with hot tap water and J&J Baby Shampoo. I want to give it a deeper clean. Not just the lines and the humidifier, but I would love to clean the accumulated dust out of the air pump part and disinfect not just clean the entire air path. Any advice on products or techniques to use?

That's a completely idiotic thought. What makes you think that there's any "accumulated dust" in it? The "air pump" is a sealed unit and not "user accessible".......not to mention that you would also void the warranty by opening the case......and you would probably screw up some of the other stuff inside the machine, including throwing off the sensor settings.DreamMachine wrote:I have had a Resmed S9 with the Swift FX headgear. Keep the intake air filters clean and that will keep the internal part of the blower clean. Besides, the internal surfaces are too slick for anything to stick to.

I agree...Just change the filter when it gets discolored/dirty.

Unfortunately, there's no practical way to do it.
Be sure to keep the filter properly installed in the back of the machine. You don't even need to change the filter frequently. If the filter gets dirty, it actually filters better, but impedes airflow.
Anything that tries to clean out the inside of the machine is either quackery or dangerous to the machine. Do NOT try to spray anything into the machine. There are delicate sensors you might damage.
About the only thing that might do some good is to take off the filter, remove the water tank, and let the machine blow full blast for a minute or two. That might blow out some loose dust, but it probably won't do that much. Only run it without the filter for a minute or two.

I've dealt with more than a few "leaks" and the stuff inside is nasty on S9s.Wulfman... wrote:That's a completely idiotic thought. What makes you think that there's any "accumulated dust" in it? If the S9 is more than about 2 weeks old, you will break one of the tabs if you open it. This is why I only recommend devices that use screws.
The s9 filter is junk, and all sorts of odd things get sucked into the foam inside the unit.
Does anyone have a part number for that foam?

Re: Cleaning Resmed S9
Well, I guess I'm going to die from the dust. I change the filter in back and that's about it.
With the flu going around here like crazy, I'm more worried about that. H1N1 again this year. At least 12 people have died in my area... many young.
Worry about dust in my machine... I don't think so. And, I'm a neat freak.

No filter will protect you from a virus, and if it did you would get nailed by the virus during the day without the filter on the cpap.ems wrote:With the flu going around here like crazy, I'm more worried about that. H1N1 again this year. At least 12 people have died in my area... many young.
