Some physicians are warm, caring and truly genuine. Others can be arrogant, judgmental, and down right hateful. I feel truly blessed to have found this forum and cpap.com. I feel like this is something I can manage on my own with the assistance of this group and simply need prescriptions from my pcp. Find a physician who is genuine and is willing to formulate a treatment plan WITH you and your unique needs. This could be an ENT, different sleep specialist, or even your PCP.

As far as reporting the physician, take some time and send a certified letter to your state board of medicine. Some states are very serious about keeping the bad eggs out of their basket. Your letter could be the straw that breaks the camels back and prompts them to take some sort of disciplinary action. Complaints are kept confidential so you have no way of knowing how many others have complained. Physicians also get very irritated when they have to respond to these complaints, so at the very least, your letter will give back some of what he gave to you.

Once you have sent the letter, move on and care for your condition. Don't let this arrogant ass run your life beyond writing the letter.

Best of luck,

Filovirus

I agree, reporting this would be futile and a waste of your time. My comment was only to help relieve your fear and anxiety about the doctor/patient relationship. I worked in the medical field all my life and complaints of this kind never even reached the Dr's desk, they were usually handled by the staff unless it was really serious.

To be clear, I have no intention of reporting him to the state board, AMA etc. I don't see a point in doing that, frankly. When I said "report" I meant filing a complaint with the insurance to get my stuff back. I find it almost fruitless to complain that he's a "bad doctor". When I say that I might "save" a coworker from agony, I mean that either, this guy will stop the "omission of included parts" and double billing for these items at least for our plan OR he'll be kicked off the plan if he won't stop.

We're probably talking about a total of $200. I realize that that amount means different things to different folks. I am not trying to be insensitive to anyone when I suggest that the money itself doesn't mean much to me. But it started small and has added up. honestly, I would have rathered that he just give me my money back and I could have paid that much extra to an online guy and potentially lose any insurance payments. I offered that option to him...just give me my money back and I'll buy on my own and risk no reimbursement from insurance. He wouldn't do it. And it's all about the ability to make these very small profits from the sale or "omission" of items that he resells. I can't imagine what his pillow inventory must be.

I find it bizarre that anyone would do all this for a $25 nasal pillow (or shall we say 2 of them per patient), a hose and a tank and $50 premiums.

In my case, DME #2 lost nearly 3 years of my business to my favorite online supplier (thank you, Johnny)
Due to Medicare contracts, I have started my Medicare service with Apria, but I can change any time,
because my plan F will pay deductibles, copays and allowed upcharges as long as the new supplier is a Medicare provider.
If Apria refuses to sell me a brand or model that I want and can get from one of their competitors,
my business is diluted-or could leave completely. There will be no fireworks, just politeness, and my request to transfer files.
I have burned enough bridges in the past--and choose to leave the roadway intact, should I ever need to retrace my path.
