Teaching the Doctor

Post by kwikwater » Fri Dec 27, 2013 4:38 pm

I just got back from my appointment with my GP doc for a followup from a sleep study. I forgot to sleep in my sleep study so we had little to talk about. I've been a hosehead for 8 years and was wondering if I was due for some changes in my therapy. I conveyed a little bit about things I've learned here and from watching my CPAP and pusle/ox data very closely for the past 3 months. The doctor didn't even know that CPAPs produce user accessible data!!!! YIKES!!! When I conveyed that I was watching my OA, Hypopnea, RERA, snore & leaks from my SD card, on freeware, she dropped her jaw!! The up side to the appointment was that she will help organize a support group here in our little town that will include apnea patients, as well as pulmonary and diabetes and any other group of patients we can think of. We are 55 miles from ANY town and 90 miles from most of our medical care outside our town of 2500. It's a step!! I'll take it as my positive results from a wasted sleep study!!

Thanks, cpaptalk for giving me the background!!!

Kelvin

So did the Dr make any changes to your therapy after consulting with you?
