Wisp Users Input Sought- The Frame Is The Problem

Post by 95C4 » Fri Dec 27, 2013 12:51 pm

Per earlier posts I am currently trying to wrestle a Wisp Nasal CPAP Mask with Headgear - Fit Pack, to the ground, & make it work for me.
It has three major components:

The cushion, which is soft silicone, comes in 3 sizes & I find it molds very well to my facial contours. Very happy with the cushion.

The headgear, which is stretchy foam & I am ok with that. It comes in standard [which I have], & Large [which I may or may not need depending on the next section]

The Frame - this is where I am struggling.
I have the silicone frame and the shape of my face & design of the frame is such that I am taking a lot of pressure directly on the cheekbones, to the point where I can't use the mask comfortably.
It has been suggested I go to the Larger Headgear, but I am not sure this will make a difference as I suspect the unchanged Frame size will still squeeze me on the cheek bones. The molded silicone frame is a substantial piece of kit & relatively stiff across the face. I was surprised at just how thick and 'rigid' it is.

Fabric frame - this is described as having reversible material for different feels.

Could someone successfully using the Fabric frame kindly describe the 'materials' used on each side? Do they slide over your skin, or "stick". How are they for pressure over the cheek bones??

If anyone has been able to use the Silicone Frame, could you indicate whether you had it work ok straight out of the box, or whether you 'tweaked ' it to get it to work, & if so, what you did??

If anyone with a silicone frame moved from the Standard headgear to the "Large," could you advise whether or not that changed the pressure on your cheekbones from the silicone Frame?

Thank you for your help.
I am just about ready to send it back, but really like the cushion & am trying to get the Frame to work too.

I've never used the fabric frame, but some folks like it - however I couldn't comment on it. Never had to tweak the silicone frame at all, but everybody's face is different, of course. Here's some Wisp frame wraps from Karen, a member on CPAPtalk. I've used them, they are nice and comfy... should last a year.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

I bent the silicone frame--very, very carefully. and just a little bit.
When I lay the frame down, a new one lies flat, my bent one is curved just enough I can slide a teaspoon handle under it.
Not much, but it made a difference. I had also considered wrapping a bit of fleece around the frame part over my cheek.
As for the fabric frame, it is satiny on one side and kind of like chamois on the other side and not nearly as stiff.
If you are interested, I can send it to you for shipping costs. Edit: received PM, negotiating.
