Saline Nasal Gel

Post by pikov22 » Wed Dec 11, 2013 6:45 pm

My asthma doc gave me some samples of Ayr Saline Nasal Gel to try when I complained that the usual nasal sprays didn't seem to help much.

Has anyone tried this? What did you think?

I haven't tried that one in particular, but I found saline gels were *noticeably* better for me than sprays. Big difference, for sure.

I have tried it and liked it very much, I think it is far more effective than sprays. It is readily available at local grocery store or places like Walgreens. I have purchased more after trying it, so that is a good indication of it's effectiveness

What is the problem, that you are trying to relieve, that "usual sprays don't help much"?

Clogged nasal passages.

Nasal congestion...next question...during the day..or just the night or in the AM?
In other words.. when is the nasal congestion affecting you? All the time or part of the time.

And what sprays have you tried and failed with?
All the Ayr saline gel is a hydration agent..moisturizer. If you have used similar hydration sprays (simple saline stuff) and they didn't help then it is unlikely that the gel will help but it might.

It all depends on the cause of the congestion? Do you know the cause?

I use a simple saline spray about an hour before bedtime. This clears my nasal and sinus passages. I also use a nasal gel (Nasogel) just before I put on my mask. This moisturizes the insides of my nose. Works well for me.

I appreciate your interest but it was my allergy/asthma doctor who suggested Ayr and gave me samples.

You only said asthma doctor in initial comments...how the heck was I supposed to know he was allergist too?

Only reason I asked all those nosy questions was to try to figure out what might be going on...in an effort to understand what is going on so that I could maybe give you a better response. I see my effort was not needed. I most likely won't make that mistake again. It takes great effort for me to type anything right now due to injuries to both my hands.

So will it help? I have no idea but if other hydrating sprays don't help...I doubt it.
