Problem with ResScan Detecting Communication Library

Post by sleepinglass » Tue Dec 10, 2013 5:05 am

I get the following message:

Unable to detect device communication Library!
The device communications library is required by ResScan to access data cards and devices.

Please reinstall ResScan to correct this problem. You will not be able to download data or configure device settings until this problem is corrected.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times, but with out success.
Has anybody else come across this?

Thanks Lazer1234 Glad to hear I am not alone, this is so frustrating. I have tried everything.

Has anybody else found this and been able to overcome this problem is some way?

What operating system is on your computer?
What version of ResScan...I assume the latest 4.3 as I think I gave you that one?
Did you install the additional drivers at the prompt for the smart card stuff? There is no need with the S9 for that added driver software information to be installed.
I assume that your computer can find the SD card and look inside the SD card???

This problem has been mentioned before but not often...so not a common problem...and I forget the fix or even if there was a fix.
A lot of the time people come here with a problem and maybe they sort it out but don't ever tell us that they sorted it out and/or what fixed it.
If I have worked through a similar problem then I normally remember it...but in this case I have never had this sort of problem when I was using ResScan so I don't have any experience to draw upon.
It sounds to me like the software can't find the SD card...or where the SD card sits but that's a guess on my part.

That sounds very much like you have installed some ResScan device drivers for older devices that you do not need if you are using an SD card for transferring data from your S9.

Your best shot is to uninstall ResScan and any associated device drives, then reinstall it again but do not select to install any of the additional drives drivers that are offered towards then end of the installation dialog.

Cheers,

Bill
