My wife and I just went on a 3 day vacation….
Prior to packing for the vacation, I set the humidifier tank aside to let it dry before packing it.
I then proceeded to pack all the right stuff as usual -- extension cords, etc…
We got to the hotel and I unpacked my CPAP equipment…. Only to discover that I had left the humidity tank at home on the sink drying out.
2 nights of sleeping with zero humidity were not fun.
it took a large glass of water or two to clear the dry throat every morning, but I survived.
Note to self --- make a new checklist of things to pack

I also keep my "travel" machine (my previous Respironics brick) totally packed at all times IN it's carry case on a shelf in the closet. I then put a plastic cleaners bag on top of it to keep the dust off of it.nanwilson wrote:Now you know why I have a spare machine and its all packed in a plastic tub ready to go.... everything I need in the same tub
I also put plastic cleaners bag on top of each of the carry cases of my 2 S9s that I use at 2 different places in the house.
Just yesterday, I was thinking that those plastic tubs that we keep XMas decorations in might be a better solution than plastic cleaners bags.
I guess I need to take measurements of each bag (empty & packed) & see if I can find something that they will fit in.
My only reservation with putting them in plastic tubs (WITH tops) is that they could not "breathe". And if I am not going to use the tops, then the cleaners bags work just as well.

Wow, you got lucky that it was just a humidifer component and you could still use your PAP machine! I do just like nanwilson and StuUnderPressure and have a dedicated back-up with all of the needed components for travel. With that being said, I still check my PAP travel case to make sure it is still good to go, even before I pack anything else for the trip. I would rather go commando by forgetting my underwear (sorry, TMI ) then try to go without my beloved PAP therapy for even one night due to something forgotten. Hey, I can always buy clothing or other personal items in a pinch, but PAP items are not so available while away from home on the road. Better to be safe than sorry .

I have come a full 360 degrees just since yesterday & decided that my cleaners bag on top of the XPAP cases IS after all the best option for me.StuUnderPressure wrote:I also keep my "travel" machine (my previous Respironics brick) totally packed at all times IN it's carry case on a shelf in the closet. After cleaning out my hose, I do air out my travel machine upon returning home by running it for a few hours, both to dry out the hose AND to remove the hotel smell from it.
But, even though I do a pretty good job of drying the hose out, I still have some reservations about putting it in an air tight plastic tub.
Especially since they are in a closet where there is not as much air flow.
Even with the cleaners bags on them, I feel like they do get some air circulation.

Re: no humidity... dumb me
Hi
I keep a few paper towels in my travel machine. When it's time to go, I empty the humifier, dry it with a paper towel, and then put the towel inside the tank to hopefully catch any residual water droplets. If I'm on a multi stage trip, I'll leave the paper towel out overnight to dry out and put it back in the ziploc bag in the morning. When I return home, new paper towel, in new ziploc back in the bag for the next trip.
