Still waiting for machine but want to know what to expect. When the machine is set up are there functions (settings) that are going to be locked out by the clinician? Can these be changed by accessing the clinician menu with the instructions found on the
apneaboard? Just wondering what I should expect or what I should tell the clinician I want when I get the machine.

Re: Changing settings on new equipment
There's not really any special "lock out" thing except for a setting in the setup menu for turning on/off the ability for the patient to see the data on the LCD screen and even it is easy to turn on.
Everything is easy to manage with the "code" to get to the clinical setup menu that is available at the apneaboard and/or the clinical manuals.
The person who delivers your machine may act like it is the national secret and you don't have clearance for that top secret code...but that's simply not true. They should set it up per your RX pressure needs. They like to take it out of the room so you won't see what they do or have it setup before they bring it to your house...if they are delivering it.

Re: Changing settings on new equipment
I think it is best to just not even let the DME know "YOU" can & will (if necessary) change the settings once you have taken possession of it.
There is really nothing to be gained by them knowing that, but if they know it, they WILL try to convince you otherwise.

Re: Changing settings on new equipment
Ok..thanks. Just wanted to make sure I would be able to make changes after the DME left the building.

Yes, you will be able to make changes, but it's important to know what you are doing... and why.
You'll also need to see the results of your changes by reading and understanding the data your machine provides.
