Condensation in tube & Mask

Post by Bronxaggie1 » Sat Nov 30, 2013 3:31 pm

Hello....I am a relatively new CPAP user. I am using a REMstar Auto A-flex with humidifier. When the weather turned colder I started getting large amounts of condensation in the mask and tube. Its at the point where when I finally do fall asleep I wake up in an hour or so with water all over my face which, is really not too cool. While I'm here can I ask one more question?? Ok, thanks. I almost always wake up with a headache....is that just something I have to deal with. When I try to loosen the straps on the mask too much air escapes....if anybody out there can help me I would be most appreciative.

thanks you all

As a long-time XPAP user I have two suggestions for your problems. I use a different machine, but the resilts should be comparable.
I don't know what mask you have, my experience has been that the original style ResMed Activa mask is very effective and works well without any need tightly strap the headgear on.

Regarding the rainout effect , for 7 or 8 years I have used a thick hose cover constructed like an insulated jacket sleeve with an insulating fiberfill. And Its benefit is enhanced by cinching down each end of the cover with ordinary rubber bands as close to the machine air outlet and the mask as possible-this prevents cool room air from contacting the hose surface. I always sleep in a cool bedroom, maybe 65 degrees, and I do not get rainout even with my humidifier turned up rather high.

What model Remstar Auto with AFlex? What humidifier setting?
Remstar tells us nothing as Respironics has used that term on all their machines.
I would assume a PR System One...either model 550 or 560. The number is on the bottom of the blower unit. 3 digit number preceded by probably DS or REF.

You have multiple options depending on which model machine you are using.
Some are explained here ...posts number 2 and 3.
