I'm on my own
I'm on my own
Ok anyone who has sleep in the same room as me says I stop breathing when I sleep . I snore so loud my friends always make fun of me. I wake up tired for years now . I feel like a zombie most days ! . I have not been to a doctor ..I don't have insurance. I found a used machine res s9 autoset with 5 hours on it. picking it up tomorrow . Will I be able to do this on my own ?

Welcome to the forum.
Here's the clinical manual for your machine...download it and read it..you will need it.

Read this and watch the video down at the bottom of the page.

I take it you are going the DIY route. Yes, there's a good chance you can do this on your own as long as you have plain jane vanilla obstructive sleep apnea with no complicating factors. Takes some work and a lot of education on your part though.
What are you doing about a mask? They require a RX to buy online unless you buy replacement parts and build your own mask.
We have several forum members here who have done the DIY job with great success....so cross your fingers.
Check out the links in my signature line for information on software that will work with your machine...free and easy to use.

Re: I'm on my own
I had to figure out CPAP mostly on my own since I lost my insurance after my diagnostic sleep study. I had to purchase my machine on Craigslist and titrate my own pressure. It took about 9 months before I felt like CPAP was really working well for me, but that isn't anything unusual even if you work closely with your doctor and RT.
You will want to download either ResScan (ResMed's software) or Sleepyhead (an open source application) so you can monitor your progress by downloading your data, and make the necessary adjustments. See Pugsy's signature for the download link for Sleepyhead. Don't worry if the data doesn't make sense at first. I gradually learned to understand the data by downloading it every morning, and it made sense to me after about a month. Now I download it infrequently since further adjustments are unnecessary at this time.
You will want to see a doctor about your sleep apnea for an official diagnosis if at all possible. There are many other medical causes of fatigue.
