First night without apneas

Post by Foggy1 » Fri Nov 22, 2013 10:56 am

I've been having very consistent results with my AHI since finding help here in this forum. This morning I woke up and found a really low AHI. So I popped the card into the slot and pulled up SleepyHead. I had NO apneas of any kind last night, and only two hypopneas! Never would've happened had I not found this group. Doctor and DME were content to just have pressure set on 4 to 14, regardless of the AHI that was averaging 7 to 8.

So did I feel magically wonderful this morning? Nope. Felt just like most other days of late.
But since I've been feeling pretty good, I'll take it!

Feeling good is cumulative; and sometimes it sneaks up on you.
As long as you are consistent, you're doing what you need to do.

Wow...! Froggie responding to Foggie....

I have a zero AHI, centrals and apnea incidents about twice a month. I used to "think" I noticed me feeling a little worse on those days. Then I worked myself into "thinking" I was going to feel bad all day when I got those morning readings. I had to tell myself to stop doin' that. Nowadays, when I get straight zero's... I feel relatively "normal" on those days. I do get great satisfaction when I get those zero's that I am trying to be healthy, having some success at it and probably adding 5 - 7 years on to my life.

Good news!! I glad it is working for you!

Sheriff, that is amazing that you have your apnea so well under control.

Yes, I've had to force myself to step back from the stats and relax a bit. I know it is cumulative and not day by day. I'm just thrilled that the process is working and that I did it on my own, with the help of those here. (Kinda like I am being successful in spite of the sleep doc and DME, who are no help at all.)

I haven't looked at stats in three years since my old system doesn't seem to like 64 bit operating systems. I have owned my Remstar APAP for 6 years now, and I'm due for a change. I think it is good to monitor progress when starting out, but a time should come where it isn't what you think about every day.
