Post by Let me sleep » Sun Nov 17, 2013 11:58 pm

When I went to my sleep study they asked if I dreamed?
And if I had night terrors ?
WHY did they ask these questions.....Night Terrors ??

If I remember correctly, dreams usually occur in one specific sleep phase. I have managed to kick my poor dog out of bed once when dreaming, another time I tried to squash her with my knee (luckily she isn't a tiny dog)

Asking about other sleep issues is part of getting a complete picture of a person's sleep history. Sometimes certain puzzle pieces help complete the picture. As for if you dream, absence of dreams may (or may not) suggest a lack of REM sleep. Also, when they ask after a sleep study if you dreamed, they can compare that to their data to see if your perception matches what they recorded. All part of getting a good grasp on what's going on with you.

Night terrors is a neurological condition where you suddenly get up in a panic state that makes you flail around, possibly jump up and run around, etc., while not really 'awake'. Kind of like a violent version of sleep walking.
