Know we've all done it, but...

Post by ems » Sat Nov 16, 2013 1:04 pm

..woke to this rather loud noise and remember thinking that something must be happening outside. I must have fallen back asleep but again woke up to this loud noise. At that point I realized the mask wasn't on my face but at the other end of my bed, and the "loud noise" was coming from the machine which was still on! Of course I turned the blasted thing off... and that was the end of the night for me. I have no memory of taking the mask completely off and tossing it across the bed. I thought I really liked my new Nano mask?

I only did that once and that was last summer. I think it was the first night I tried Trazadone, an Rx my GP gave me after my sister died. Plus I think I was trying a new mask out. I therefore just blame all it on a new drug and the fact that I'm mask challenged.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

last night i lost my mask for the first time - i woke up with no mask on but the machine was off - no clue what i had done - given the number of hours that i had used the machine ( according to the machine), it seems like i woke up fairly soon after it happened. I have no idea whether the machine turned itself off when it sensed that no one was connected to it for an extended period or i did it in semi-sleep. Then i got severe leg cramps in my inner thigh and hamstrings - it wasn't a great night.

I have been on the mask/machine for over 5 years. 2 nights ago I put on my 18 month old Quattro, pulled up the blankets and fell asleep. about 4 hours later I woke up breathing heavily.....I had for gotten to turn the machine on .This was a first for me.... Thank goodness for the afixia(sp) valve....It works..

I have only been using my cpap for a couple of weeks, but several times I have awakened to my mask laying by my head, and my machine off. I have no recollection of doing it. It's comfortable for me, haven't had any problems adjusting to it, but for some reason, I must have had issues with it in the middle of the night and decided to take it off!

I slept one night for several hours with the machine off. Yuck, I have only done that once--so far.
The other night, I dozed off for a couple hours without the mask. I felt so horrible!
I put the mask on and slept the rest of the night, plus an extra 4 hours, as that is what it took to feel normal again.
Such a blessing to be retired; but I would have called in sick anyway.

For me, it's putting my mask on & hearing the air flow noise. Only to discover I had forgotten to conn3ct the hose to the mask after cleaning.

Worst for me was waking up in the morning with the nasal pillows of my mask not in my nose, but like right in that area, though *smile*. Terrible night, by the way. That was when I was trying out the Aloha mask, that didn't work out for me. Haven't taken my mask off without knowing it yet.
