I have the Resmed ASV with auto EPAP and a heated hose ( i think it's the 36057 unit) and as a backup, the Respironics 950 which is identical except for the heated hose - I've found that i sleep much better with the Resmed - i feel better and sleep through the night and my ahi is much lower ( 0 - 0.5 verses 5-10 on the respironics). It's hard to believe that the heated hose would make such a difference but as far as i can tell, as i've got them set the same ( it is a little different in how you set them), it is the only difference.
If i swap on a PR60 heated humidifier and hose will it effectively convert this unit into a Respironics 960 or are other factors involved?

Re: Question on after market heated hose
Sorry but there is more to the heated hose feature on the 60 series than just the heated hose. If it had been that easy I would have converted my 750 machine just as soon as the PR S1 heated hose was available.
There's the firmware in the blower unit to control the humidifier and there's a different higher wattage power supply needed to power it and there's a different lid with power to it that the heated hose gets plugged into.
Nothing on the 50 series machines is compatible with the 60 series machines...no mix and match option.
Now it is easy to make a 60 series machine that was originally dispensed without the heated hose optional equipment by adding the adapter kit which includes the new lid, power supply and heated hose into the heated hose functioning equipment but we can't take that kit and stick it on a 50 series machine. Wish we could but we can't.

Re: Question on after market heated hose
Now you can add a totally stand alone heated hose to the 950 machine.
I bought and used the Hybernite 2300 heated hose with good results but it is recommended at Classic mode be used with that hose and there is no way to customize the humidity delivery.
It does do the job though. Fixed my rain out issues in the hose so I didn't have to use a hose cozy and fixed the ice cube nose I was getting even with the hose cozy when in the regular new system one humidification system.

I get an ice cube nose with the Nuance pillows mask, which I love for its low leak rate. I use a heated hose. What causes this?fixed the ice cube nose I was getting

Re: Question on after market heated hose
The cooler air in your bedroom is cooling the air in the hose beyond what the heater can warm it. What temperature setting are you using? Just increase the temperature of the air in the hose if you can. If you are already maxed out and you like your bedroom cooler then you might add a short hose cozy in an effort to keep the air coming from the long hose a little warmer at your nose.Jeannh wrote:I get an ice cube nose with the Nuance pillows mask, which I love for its low leak rate.
