OT happy veterans day

I lucked out and had 25 service persons come into the bagel shop while I was enjoying a bagel breakfast sandwich and coffee with my daughter. When she noticed them coming in and I began to stand up she grabbed my arm and said "it's my turn dad"..... She had seen me do this numerous times so she went up & handed the cashier her credit card and told her to put the soldiers meals on it. When she came back to the table she gave me a big hug and kiss and said thank you dad, sorry you weren't treated with the same respect when you came home. I raised one hell of a great woman!

Not to be the voice of negativity but while it is great that this thread has been posted, it seems a better way of thanking vets would be to contact your senators and representatives to do something about the staggering Epidemic of Unemployment, Trauma & Suicide mentioned in this article:

And in case anyone is wondering, I did contact my senators at the beginning of the Obama administration as there was some horrifying story I read that I found outrageous. Looks like I need to do it again.

My dad was in the army during ww2,, my husband was in the navy, and my son is air force. This family definitely knows the meaning of military service. Thank you to all that have served no matter which country you are from, if it wasn't for your service we would not know what the meaning of FREEDOM is.

I called the VA last week to schedule an appointment with Audiology for an exam and to recheck Mike's hearing aid( also service related). Was told there was no opening until beginning of Feb. We also hear that from some of our friends and neighbors who use the VA clinic and have no other private insurance. We do have private insurance that we pay dearly for but it doesn't cover hearing aids.
