OT Update on my life
hey everyone I wanted to update everyone on how I'm doing currently
I had a mental health appointment today to address my depression
The meeting went good I talked to the person about how I felt
he proscribed me anti depression medication
And he also gave me medicine to help me sleep
Health wise my asthma has been at bay for now
I have been having to suction myself 3 times a day
becouse of mucus build up in my lungs my feet and ankles
have been swollen for the last few days

Re: OT Update on my life
Just wearing socks seems to help me with swelling. My doctor wrapped my swollen foot with an ace bandage then the nurse that is coming to my house rewrapped it and cut off the circulation. Not I just wear socks with tops and it helps. Also propping up your feet helps. I am glad you are doing better. Please keep us posted.

Would you mind if I asked what medication you now have for sleeping?

Always good to hear from you. You seem more optimistic these days.
I wear socks at night to keep my toes warm. Hey... don't laugh... it works!

Have you tried compression stockings? My mom uses those or her feet will swell too much. Recently, my dad had a bad fall involving a ladder. His leg and foot were pretty swollen. He started wearing one of the compression stockings, and it really helped with the swelling, and it felt a lot better.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: OT Update on my life
Again, might want to check with your doctor. I retain fluid also, I usually gauge it by how tight my wedding band fits. My doctor put me on some diuretics which I hate taking because they also drain your potassium and cause muscle cramps...but they do get rid of the water! A friend of mine recently went to the doctor and they put him on something through an IV and he lost 6lbs of water before the visit was over.
Take care, glad to hear your getting back on track. Remember it takes time, there's not a one pill cure for anything...yet.

Glad you had your appointment. The depession meds may help so after awhile you won't need sleep meds. How's your diet? Do you eat a lot of salty foods? Do you drink enough water? We're all trying to take care of you, aren't you lucky!

Re: OT Update on my life
My problem is I love salt. I salt everything. My wife says I'd salt my salt if I ever got a plate full. I even put a pinch in my beer, when I can sneak one.
Drinking Tea is a great idea, its a natural diuretic. Home cooked foods have less salt...unless I cook them.
Sounds like your on the right track! Keep it up!

Re: OT Update on my life
Too much of anything is not a good idea but we need an adequate amount of water to flush the impurities(including salt) out of our system. Drs recommend 6-8 8oz glasses/day. Tea is good if you're not using too much sugar but Regular tea also has a lot of caffeine so may interfere with sleep if you drink it too late in the day.

Re: OT Update on my life
I hope you at least mean 2 to 3 cups in a giant size pitcher. Even in a giant size pitcher, that's an awful lot of sugar.fordjx4000 wrote:i drink tea with 2 to 3 cups of suger in it
Do you make your own tea or does someone else? If you're the one who makes the tea, try to cut down a little at a time or suggest this to the tea maker. Would be much better for your health... not to mention your teeth.
Watch anything good on TV lately??
