day 2 "full time"

Post by andy5805 » Tue Oct 15, 2013 12:53 am

I am rubbish at compliance, yet I need this machine.

been getting closer to it recently because I bought my own machine hoping my outlay would motivate me to change.

Been trailing weekends, last week I came up with some killer psychology as far as I was concerned ( I do a high powered job, I fear very much my mind won't be up to it if I am not awake)

put clock forward, go to bed an hour earlier - for as long as it takes to get used to the machine, want the time back? fine, get used to the machine - want 2 hours back in the evening? fine, get used to the machine. And then it will flow naturally.

This self hypnosis reassured me that if I was I bed for nearly 10 hours, worse case scenario, I could throw mask off grab a few hours "old sleep" - a case of better to have a gun and not need it then to need a gun and not have it. I needed the gun sunday night, I didn't last night, not bad for 2 nights as a full time user.

so last night I did the whole hog on the mask and I feel pretty rested. - It's tricky psychology because I needed to be able to have a plan B, to in fact not need the plan B- if i'd gone to bed at 11, panic would have left me blaming the machine for my own panic.

I suppose my message is this - if you need it, you need it, so whatever route you need to take to get there, take it

Andy,

That is basically the formula for success--doing whatever it takes to make it happen. In fact, I often suggest here that new people take a week off from work when they get their machine so they can simply sleep without worry about the clock. Many people are so far behind on sleep when they first get their machine that they should try to sleep as much as they possibly can. If you have the option to sneak in a few days of vacation or have the flexibility to shift your schedule, then consider doing what you can to get as much sleep as you can get for a week to 10 days.

Lots of people do well to wait for the weekend, or take time off--it's a good plan.
I, on the other hand, simply could NOT wait!
I used my machine 3 nights, then took it along to a professional symposium, thus not missing a single night.
I'm glad I did it, as at previous events, I was unable to stay alert through 8 hours a day of classes and workshops.
This time, I was improved enough to actually learn good stuff and enjoy the event--something I had not done for several years.
