Nasal mask recommendations

Post by tal » Sun Oct 06, 2013 12:49 am

I will be having a lump removed from one nostril and will not be able to use my current resmed swift nasal pillows mask. I have a small nasal bridge and I am a bit of a mouth breather with mostly leaves me with a sore throat. I'd prefer a nasal mask rather than one which mouth and nose, and one which is cheap. Any suggestion on which mask.

Which nasal pillow mask are you now using?
If it happens to be the ResMed Swift FX nasal pillow mask you can get the Nano cushion and use it with the Swift FX gear and it will do what you want for the cost of just the cushion.

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/cushio ... -nano.html $47 for the cushion
It will work well enough with the Swift FX headgear and short hose. I tried it myself and it works just fine.

You definitely don't want to be using the Nasal Aire II while you're healing. But once you're healed, you might want to look into it. Your small head configuration may lend itself to the internal cannula style better than the external masks.

I too have a small nose bridge, and traditional masks never fit me well. I tried pillows, but found they rubbed my outer nares and upper lip raw and I couldn't get comfortable with them. I resisted the NAII for a long time (it freaked me out to contemplate shoving something inside my nose), but once I gave in and tried it, it was the only one for me. I've tried other masks over the years, but none are as comfortable.

That said, I just bought a full face mask - the Sleepweaver - and a forum member is sending me a Hybrid. I've always wanted a full face for those truly congested nights, so I thought I'd give it a try again.

Best of luck with your surgery and hoping your nose heals fast!
B.

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula. :)
