My dentist also cast a vote of approval upon seeing the Tap Pap. He was quite interested too.

About the "hot water" trick. The material these things are made of will SHRINK as it cools down. That's important ... that's how it makes such a strong fit, BUT when you use hot water you need to bear this in mind. So get it warm and give it a slight bit of pressure outward so it cools back to where you want it.

For me the hot water trick never did the deal. I just kept re-boiling it (and even mushing down the sides to get it to re-form) ... the 5th one was perfect. On my second guard it only took two tries.

Finally: dental health. When you go to the dentist do you need deep cleaning or have cavities? You may not be the best candidate for a guard that gives the bacteria a place to hang out away from saliva (which helps reduce the problem). On the other hand you may just need a dentist with less debt!
