Software & Insurance

Post by communilink » Mon Jun 12, 2006 7:06 pm

Was anyone able to get their insurance to pickup the cost of software for their sleep issues. I am curious if I can get it covered under insurance or if I can possibly use my medical spending account to cover the costs for it. If you were able to get it covered, how did you go about it.

I asked the same question here about 6 months ago, the answer seems to be (almost) uniformly no. A few exceptions. Almost not worth the trouble "begging".

My DME GAVE me the reader and the software. I am sure he will make it up in the long run but, there are some good people out there.

Medical Spending Account

I've seen those accounts cover almost anything - If I had one of those I'd try putting the software and reader through it - if it comes from a medical supply place they will probably accept it. The rules on those are nothing like insurance.
