Prescrip from my MD?

Post by dos coyotes » Thu Sep 19, 2013 1:01 pm

I see my MD next week for my annual check up. First Dr. visit since beginning CPAP self treatment back in Feb. I've printed out my SleepyHead report and plan to ask him for a CPAP prescription as I don't have one at present.

I assume he'll know what to put in the prescription, but on the off chance he does not - what should a CPAP prescription (from an MD) contain/look like??

Here is one resource: http://c0149421.cdn.cloudfiles.rackspac ... on-LMN.pdf

If you are going to be using a local DME, you want the prescription to be as specific as possible, including which exact make and model you want.

Search the forum ... there has been a lot of examples over time.

If you look on cpap.com (our host) they have examples of prescriptions you can print off and fill out. They you get your MD to sign it.

Be aware that Medicare and many insurers will not pay for CPAP equipment without a sleep study. So the RX may not be enough if you hope to have insurance pay.
