I'm wondering what proportion of heavy snorers have apnea? When you know someone who snores loudly, do you suspect apnea? Or is it the case that most people who snore don't have apnea?
I ask because now that I'm getting treated with a CPAP, I realize that I have several family members who are champion snorers. Am I wrong in thinking "I bet they ought to get a sleep study"?

Nope! You're not wrong. While not all snorers have apnea, a sleep study would be very appropriate for any heavy snorer, if for no other reason than to rule OSA out. It's worth doing.Iowamv wrote:Am I wrong in thinking "I bet they ought to get a sleep study"?

I agree, as a former VERY noisy snorer.
Snoring may not kill you, but the apnea can (and likewise your bed partner, bunk mates, etc.)
