I bought one of these and I am pleased to say that even thought it is absolutely the ugliest thing I have ever seen it works great. It would work great for camping trips. I can't stand hot air in my face in the summer but I need a lot of humidity. All you need is a jug of water. I am not using distilled water because I can just throw the jug away and replace it. We have good well water that is high in minerals. In the winter I can get out my regular humidifier that goes with my machine and enjoy the nice warm air.

His website tells me that my humidifier is "full of bacteria". I know for sure that is not true.
