Resmed S9 Autoset vs Escape Auto

Post by BGAndrea » Thu Oct 21, 2010 2:47 pm

Hello,
Today my DME dropped off my APAP. I had asked for an Autoset, but she brought an Escape Auto. I asked what the difference was and she said the Escape Auto is better and newer. Is this true? What are the differences? Also, when I exhale my mask feels like it is coming off of my face, even when it is tight. It feels as if I am blowing up the sides, thought no air leaks. This is kind of an odd feeling and I don't remember this during my titration study with the same mask. Any ideas?

-----------
APAP: Resmed Escape Auto (set at 7-14 with EPR set at 3)
Titration @ 9
Mask: Mirage Quattro Size M
Tubing: Have both slimline and Climate Line. Using slimline for now.

The S9 Escape Auto is the lower-end version of the S9 Autoset. See the "Specifications" tab here: http://www.resmed.com/us/products/s9_se ... c=patients

Unfortunately it is not fully data-capable.

I'm not sure about the new escape but I believe that the S8 escape was not data capable, and you want a data capable machine.
I hope they didn't pull a fast one on you.

If you have not used it yet (and don't) then the machine should have no hours on it. Seemingly this would make it returnable.

Here is a link to the ResMed site with the different machines..

http://www.resmed.com/us/products/s9_es ... c=patients

If you look under Features and Specifications you will see the differences.

The DME probably makes a few more bucks if they convince you to take the S9 Escape Auto instead of the S9 Autoset.

NO!
You just got ripped off. The Escape has NO efficacy data (except pressure and overall AHI) and is missing some of the features of the S9 Auto that can be really useful like the mask fit feature that might help you with the problems you are having right now, and leak data.

If they haven't closed for the day, call and tell them you want to return that machine today and get exactly what you asked for.

And don't trust ANYTHING THEY SAY!

I just got my machine on Saturday and I am presently going through the same situation with my DME. I just got off the phone with them and demanded the Resmed S9 Autoset. I would like to know how I can get the software to be able to read my card. I have both Windows and Mac. Can someone poiint me in the right direction?

SleepyHead will work with the S9 AutoSet.
Check out the links in my signature.

ResScan is the official ResMed software. You would need to register here at the forum for someone to be able to send you a private message about how to get it.

Don't let them stick you with an upcharge "because it's a premium" machine." (that's total BS)
With Medicare, it's illegal, and with private insurance, and they are stubborn,
you only need your doctor to specify the autoset on the RX.
If the doc needs convincing, tell him you need access to numerical leak data--the smiley face is nearly useless!
