Hi everybody...I'm new here. I use a Respironics System One BiPap with an
attached humidifier. There are some mornings when I wake up with a stuffed
nose, even though I can tell that the humidifier is working properly. I also use saline
solution in each nostril before putting on my Mirage Quattro face mask each night.
Does anybody else have the same equipment, and uses the heated tubing? I'd
like to know if the heated hosing on the humidifier helps any..
Thanks!!

Re: Stuffy nose
Which System One BiPap...50 series no heated hose option or the 60 series which does have the option of adding a heated hose?
If a 60 series machine...yes it will help. It allows for more customization of the humidity delivered as well as the air temp going to your face.
The default System One humidification without the heated hose doesn't use a lot of water when compared to the Classic Mode (a choice in the clinical setup menu) which is heat only.
What setting are you using now? Some people need more humidity and some people need less humidity to prevent nasal congestion related to humidity levels.
I happen to have used a 50 series BiPap in the past and I now have a 60 series BiPap and I bought the heated hose option to add to it.
I prefer lots of added moisture. The heated hose allows me to use lots of added moisture (I have 3 options for delivery 70%, 80% and 90% and it uses sensors detecting the ambient room humidity to start with) without rain out and it doesn't feel like a sauna.
I am one of those people who if their nasal mucosa get the least bit dry then I have some pretty nasty nasal congestion.
There are others that get that way with too much moisture. This is an individual preference based on what makes a person's nasal mucosa happy and trial and error to figure it out.
The heated hose will be of special benefit this winter because I also like a cold bedroom. It will greatly reduce the chance of rain out in the hose and allow for the air that I am feeling to be more comfortable temperature wise as well as humidity wise.
So which System One are you using? And at what setting on the humidifier?

And I only use the humidifier for a few winter weeks or I get very stuffed up myself... you have to play with it.
