machines ?
i had thought that the only difference was a new heated hose but some of the posts i've read here seem to indicate that the 960 has auto Epap while the 950 doesn't.

Here's the latest brochure:
http://www.healthcare.philips.com/pwc_h ... cSheet.pdf
As you note it supports a heated hose. It also supports (1) Auto EPAP for a patient’s changing needs, (2) Real-time access to patient data via modems, and (3) advanced event detection.
But I'm not certain how that Auto EPAP varies from the previous EPAP, which included EPAPmin and EPAPmax to allow it to automatically adjust to the pressure needs of the patient, based on their obstructive apneas. I suspect this is a marketing statement more than reality, since Resmed now includes an Auto EPAP feature with their ASV units.
Hope that helps.

I believe they both have auto-EPAP (both having an EPAPmin and EPAPmax setting).
The 960 adds support for the heated tube humidifier, and its data is slightly different and not supported by Encore Pro 2.11 or SleepyHead yet.
I think it's only the older ResMed S9s that lack auto-EPAP.

I called up respironics today and they confirm that the only difference between the 950 and 960 is the heated hose, everything else is the same. I can't see that i've ever had a need for the heated hose, i would guess that a cozy on the hose should work about the same but in general, I've found the air coming from the machine too hot rather than too cold.
