quattro FFM history question- mystery

Post by Denial Dave » Wed Jul 24, 2013 6:39 pm

I just bought a new sealed in bag quattro off of Craigslist. The forehead adjustment part is made of gray plastic. All of my other quattro masks have clear plastic. Is this a very old design??

I am aware of two different packaging types. The more recent masks are packaged like the one below on the left, where the older masks were packaged like the one on the right. All of mine had clear also. I have heard stories of some older Quattro masks that had a different hole count for the vent area. It is unknown to me if they had a gray plastic adjustment part.

Yes, it's wierd I have a newer one and the adjustment thing is grey. Ugly. But then so is the whole mask...

Odd because their other models are all clear, like the Activa.

I don't have the bag from the Quattro my DME gave me, so I can't compare packaging.

But this Quattro that I just bought off of craiglist (paid $35) has a gray adjustment assembly... Everything else in the mask looks to be the same.

I bought it mostly for spare parts use & for the brand new headgear & cushion, so it's all good.... it just got me wondering when I saw the gray knob.

Thanks

Dave

My knob is grey. I've had my mask about a year or a little more. It was new when I got it.

Now I'm curious about deciphering resmed batch / date codes on the packaging. It might give a clue on how old the masks & cushions are that we purchase.

Just received our latest Quattro last month(June), I still have the bag with the pic of the couple. I'll give you whatever info that's on it. My mask was clear and so was the cushion.

Catalog #61202 - Mirage Quattro FFM Med-Amer
Lot (Batch Code) = 463958 (Made in Australia)
Contains 61266-Frame
61292-Cushion

Thanks Dori

I'm going to call Resmed in California office later today and see if their customer service folks will be willing to disclose the secret code for their batch/date codes on the packages.

Maybe they'll also tell me why some Quattro's come with clear plastic adjustment knobs and others have clear ones.

I work in manufacturing and it would be insane for us to produce a part in 2 different colors without a reason such as customer preference or something like that. There has to be some sort of design change involved here.

I'll post what they tell me over the weekend

I just spent 20-30 minutes on the phone with a Customer Service Rep & then a Quality Control Rep at Resmed California office.

Neither of them have any documentation that shows Resmed ever selling Quattro FFM's with grey plastic forehead adjustment knobs. So maybe we are imagining things or we are color blind.

They also would not divulge the secret deciphering process in understanding their batch / lot code numbering system on their packaging. All they would tell is that based upon the 2 batch/lot codes that I gave them, both my mask and Dori's masks were made in 2012.
