Can anyone point me to any long term scientific/medical xPAP studies as to their effectiveness in treating the problems caused by OSA? I've read that xPAP is considered the "gold standard" for the treatment of OSA but I need to find some studies that I can use as ammunition to convince a friend to hang in there with his CPAP treatment.
Any long term xPAP studies out there?
Does your friend have an Internet connection?

What do you consider "long-term"?
The better technology of this therapy is only a couple of years old and continuously evolving. Most of the studies I've seen are about 3 to 5 years old and the compliance rates were not good (maybe 50%). On the other hand, NOW is a good time to be starting therapy with the various newer technologies (machines and masks) available.
Best wishes,
Den

You probably will find more info if you look for OSA or CPAP. xPAP is a more of a shortcut created by forum users to refer to both CPAP, and self adjusting (automatically adjusting) machines.
