Error 24 on Cpap

Post by planodad » Sun Jun 04, 2006 5:49 pm

What is this and how can I fix it? This is the 2nd time the machine has done this and last time it took over a month to get it back from Respironics and it was a very bad month around this house (when dad isn't happy, NOBODY is happy).

TIA

Which machine do you have. If it is the Remstar Pro 2 or auto, then the error indicates either a problem with the calibration or a defective flash chip. Either way it will require professional service to recalibrate the unit or replace the main PC board assembly. The error codes might be the same for other versions of the Remstar machines but I cannot verify that.

planodad,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.....

You didn't say WHICH Respironics machine you have, but....according to the Service Manual for the Pro 2 and Auto, the E-24 error indicates a calibration error....and besides recalibration, also indicates the FLASH chip MAY be bad and then goes on to say the main PCA board needs to be replaced.

Second time?

Then they didn't fix it the first time - or it is something like a defective power supply is frying the main board and they replaced the mainboard and did not check the power supply. But you knew that.

In either case, IMHO, you should ask for a loaner. Also, the cheapest new machines from CPAP.com are $300 - probably suitable if you are on a single pressure treatment. I love my APAP with C-Flex - I'm going to try C-Flex 3 again since 2 feels normal now, but I have my old CPAP and I'd use it if I were sending my new one in for service. And there are used machines around from time to time.

I agree with you - once you are used to therapy, you dread how you feel when you don't have the CPAP.

But the reality is that even if you don't know anything - when the check engine light comes on and it reads zoot suit sensor and you take it to the mechanic and then a couple weeks later the check engine comes on again and it is the zoot suit sensor again, you tend to justifyibly blame the mechanic, whether or not the reet pleat is implicated. They got to loan you pants until yours come back from the tailors.

I also hope that you are not paying for postage to ship it to them a second time. Sounds trivial but......They should have fixed it the first time or if it is warrenty replaced it if they can't fix it.
