Can't get the video's to play on my computer

Post by lferrel » Sat Jun 03, 2006 2:54 pm

There have been several times where I wanted to look at certain video clips on cpap.com and vendor sites, but the process seems to abort. I assume I have my Explorer Internet Advanced Options set wrong, but does anyone have any advice on what I need to do in order to view video clips?

Don't know how you're attempting it, but when you get to the screen that shows something like the following, I believe you need to right-click on the link and download it to your computer hard drive (somewhere). Once it is downloaded, it should play in Windows Media Player when you double-click on it.

Broadband (20.6 MB) (.wmv)

When you say "abort" what exactly happens? Is there an error message, just hangs up, or what?

You can check the Advanced option by selecting the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer then:

Select the "Internet Options..." menuitem
Select the "Advanced" tab
Scroll down to "Multimedia
Make sure "Play Videos in Web Pages" is checked

The Multi Media Player comes up and says "Connecting to Media." But, it just keeps running and running. Nothing happens.

The Play video in web page was checked.

Do you have a wideband connection or dialup?

Looks like you are getting timeouts as if you were on dialup. That's what I have and I usually cannot watch a very long video at all.

Sorry, I won't be of much help!

Downloading - and saving as a file on you own computer, as Den suggested, and then running it from your local computer should solve the problem.

That did it! I guess the problem was that I was bypassing the save process because Windows Media Player opened automatically with the anoucement that it was "connecting to the media." The Player still opens up several windows saying the same thing, but I just close them and proceed to the save operation. Then, when the save is finished, I click the open option and it runs.

Thanks to you and everyone that coached me through this!

Have a good day!
