Sore snout with Comfortlite 2

Post by Missy » Thu Jun 01, 2006 4:58 pm

I just started using my Respironics Pro 2 cpap with the Comfortlite 2 mask with pillows. I have been using this for one week now, and am developing one SORE nose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking of switching to the Swift, but I feel the Comfortlite gives me such great freedom when it comes to sleeping in whatever position I desire. I love the mask for that.. I'm going to make this work for me no matter what.........

Try the simple cushion interface. I was having the same problem with the pillows interface and tried the simple cushion with great results.

I use the CL2 and the Aura and I had a sore nose when I first started using them. With the Aura it was really bad at first but I was diligent and now I use it with no problems. I am still adjusting to the CL2 and have had some sores with it. I my masks with baby wipes, no alcohol or fragrance, before I put them on and apply what my husband so fondly calls "nose butter" which is actually a form of ky jelly. This ritual seems to help keep from getting the sore nose now. I also think that maybe it is something that maybe they put on the mask before packaging that I am reacting to and until I get that completely removed I have sores. I hope this helps

I used a recommended product from this forum: AYR gel. It is a saline solution with Aloe Vera in gell form. Generic brand works fine also. I put some on my little finger and swab inside of nose with it. Feels good, especially if nose is already sore. Mine is healed now, but continue to use it regularly. For less than 5 bucks, it's sure worth a try.

I had a very sore nose with the nasal pillows, also. No rash or redness, but the end or tip of my nose just plain HURT. I fiddled and tweaked every way I could think of. Then I switched to the simple cushion, used Rested Gal's extra strap idea, and have been extremely pleased since.
