Is it just me or...

Post by maodiver » Wed May 24, 2006 2:51 pm

I have been using my RemStar/Swift nasal pillow mask for about a week now, and don't really notice that much of a change in the AM.

About my Apnea...I didn't know that I had it until the sleep study. They said that I had an episode on avg at least twice a minute while sleeping. I felt like I slept thru the nite, was just tired the next day.

I am not as tired as I was during the day, but still have trouble getting out of bed in the AM. Once out of bed, it does seem like I get going faster and am better able to face the day, but the difference is not as drastic as I was expecting.

I do not get as tired during the day, or sleepiness at night, but again, was not as drastic of a change.

Any vets out there with some advice:?:

It takes time, lots of time for some folks, less time for others. No way to tell. I was a quick responder with an equally quick tail-off and have continued to have to sort things out since. There is no doubt that I am sleeping better but after 5 months I still haven't seen a dramatic change but there are a lot of other health issues at play in my life.

Just check your humidifier every morning to see how much you're using--a lot means leaks. you should use very little.

Don't be surprised that you didn't know you had apnea. Many people who do feel they are 'sleeping through the night' or that 'they aren't snoring' when in fact they are having profoundly interrupted sleep and snore like buzz saws. You usually do NOT come to full wakefulness when you stop breathing...you come up, but not all the way up. Your sleep is broken, but you do not fully awake. I have a buddy who says cpap therapy truly saved his life and that he noted a near immediate improvement. I have two other friends who both say they took months to completely adjust and that the benefits were slow but steady. So hang in there, and know you are doing your overall health a world of good!

Getting old doesn't make you 'forgetful'. Having too damn many things to remember makes you 'forgetful'.
