Hi- I'm new to CPAP and to the Forum. I'm having a tough time with it.
After one month with a "Darth Vedar" mask. It was not full face but big enough that I could not even read or watch TV with it on. I would wake up after 2 hours and think "get it off, get it off!" and usually I would take it off. I had a lot of leakage and I hated the cool exhaust air on my forehead. I also have pain and discomfort from facial herpes (right cheekbone area) that has been recurring since I was 2 years old (Yes, I now have meds for that:Valtrex).I just changed to a nasal pillow mask.My doctor also precribed Nasonex, to clear my nasal passages before trying to sleep. But I'm still having a very bad time and wake up from mouth breathing.I have a humidifier in the bedroom but not one that is part of the CPAP.[/img]
Room humidifier good enough?

I do not believe that you will get much benefit from a room humidifier unless it is blowing directly into the air intake of the CPAP. Then I would be concerned with possible damage to the CPAP from too much moisture on the internal fan and electronics.
The air you are breathing is in a closed environment once it is drawn through the filter of the CPAP. The room humidifier is adding mositure to the air outside of your mask.
To do any good with CPAP device, a humidifier needs to be integrated with the setup.
