Profile Suggestion

Post by Offerocker » Tue May 16, 2006 8:47 pm

Hi, All !
IMHO, it is difficult to learn what registered members are using as a machine, mask, etc. when it is pictured. They aren't as specific as the worded alternative.
I realize that I can click on the picture, and then I'll be taken to pertinent website, but that is very time-consuming.

Webmaster: Could a 'hover' or right-click be added to provide the corresponding verbage?

It sure is hard to see what others are using and happy with, looking at the tiny pictures.

I would like to see the option changed on your profiles, if any of you feel the urge, or feel the same as I.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
Please don't tell me I have a 'problem' - I already know that

That would probably take a rewrite of the code on the forum, quite a task, the forum software is a bought product, not made by the people that run the forum. As all programs, we are bound by their limits. The photos aren't named to describe the pictures. The best thing to do would be turn off the photos and enter the data right, but some don't take the time.

The more we know about what people are using the clearer we can respond. Jim

it's a good suggestion, i mean most respironics cpaps look the same, lol, the only way you could see which model was by clicking the pic. good idea, i wonder if other people will feel the same.

Kathleen,

Actually, I use BOTH. It takes up a little more space, but I don't think all that much. I just try to keep my postings shorter.....
Also, about the time I started reading this forum, there was a big "discussion" about this very subject. So, Johnny set it up so that people could go either way.....or not list it at all. And, there's also a pretty fair amount of space for "remarks".

Best wishes,

Den

On other forums you don't even have this as an option (ie. viewing the machine the poster uses or read what s/he uses. I asked for this on another forum when I first started this treatment so I wouldn't have to post a question as to what machine, mask, hose, etc. do you use but they just didn't know how or didn't care. This is just another of the top ten reasons this site is the greatest. Ya gotta love it .

When I first set up my profile, I thought it was cool to have the pictures. But, like you, when checking other's profiles, I would have to click on the picture to find out what machine, or in some cases, which mask, they use. So, I changed my profile back to text.

I think we should leave the forum alone and let everyone choose. But it doesn't hurt to point out that the text description is clearer communication, which is what the forum is about.
