Hello all. I have been recently diagnosed with Sleep Apnea, which I knew before I went that I had it. Anyway, I have two questions. First one, I am using the Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow System. So far it seems to be working good, but I've noticed in the mornings that edges of my nostrils are sore, including the piece of my nose in between my nostrils. Second question, I also have Unipolar Depression. Has anyone else had depression and seen it go away with CPAP treatment? Also, when will I really notice the full effects from treatment? I've been using my machine for three nights now and I have noticed that my body doesn't feel tired when I wake up, so it is easier to get up, but I find that I'm still tired during the day.

hello-
1) Swift does tend to make your nostrils sore--try lining them before sleep with either ayr gel or vaseline or both. my own vote is for vaseline because it is a better moisturizer and ayr gel has its own irritants, but many here are vaseline-skittish and don't notice the ayr gel irritants. ayr gel also cleans out your nose, which is why i use both when using ayr gel at all. 2) cpap can help depression to the extent that your depression may be fueled by lack of proper rest. but cpap is not a cure-all. and depression can also generate non-cpap induced fatique, which is why you may still get tired during the day. 3) because of the above, you may have already experienced cpap as good as it gets. however, many here report that it can take months before their cpap sleep debt has been eliminated.
