My baby could have sleep apnea.
My baby could have sleep apnea.
We bought an angelcare home movement monitor and last night it went off. I ran into her room and picked her up. She was breathing (at that time, I don't know about before) but very limp (which could be because she had been in a deep sleep.) We observed her for a while and then put her back into her bed. Does this sound like sleep apnea to any of you?
baby with possible sleep apnea
Why did you get the movement product in the first place. Some of these items can cause unnessesary panic. Also, at what setting is it? The setting should be for an apnea of 20 seconds or longer. All babies have some sort of apnea, but it just depends on how bad. A child who was sleeping would be limp. It is important that you look at the babies lips. My daughter suffered from infantile apnea, and she would stop breathing 20 or more times a night. When she would stop breathing, her lips would be white or blue. I do know that one can get very dependant on the monitor, and that is a danger in itself. Speak with your dr and express your concerns. There are sleep studies that would indicate if there is a pronounce apnea issue, and especially if there is braycardia(the heart decreases with the apnea). Don't look for trouble, it will come to you on its own!
