Does the Bridge Pain Ever Go Away?

Post by beneyw » Mon Apr 24, 2006 4:32 am

Two weeks and no matter what I do...if mask is arranged on face so you get no leaks you get nose bridge pain...move the mask slightly and no nose pain but leaks...does this ever get resolved. My tech says..."any new masks you have to pay for"....I said fine...I can get one online much cheaper anyway...So, do I hang with this FlexiFit 407 or try another? Can one somehow alleviate that nose bridge issue?

trying masks

I don't know about you, but I don't like pain and I want to be able to sleep comfortably.

I have tried many masks.......I purchased a few new online and some I have bought from fellow board members who also try different masks.

One of the most important things is finding the right mask for you.....you are worth it. If it costs a little extra money to find that "perfect" mask....then hey, nothing much you can do. I personally will not suffer pain and discomfort. I have found 3 masks that I love. It has been an expensive journey, but like I say, I am worth it.

Good luck finding 'your' perfect mask.

Life is too short to sleep with annoying masks. (or anything else). My sleep study mask was a F&P, and when I bought my first mask I went back to the sleep lab to find what make and model it was so that I WOULDN'T get stuck with the same mask. (On balance, I shouldn't give F&P a bad rap, with 183 wires poking out of every conceivable orifice, everything was pretty annoying)

You might consider one of the "pillow" systems. GUARANTEED no painful bridge problems. But they're not for everybody. I've tried them, but currently prefer the UM-II, have tried (and like) the Somnoflex, and soon to try the Activa (aka: "love sick octopus"). I haven't noticed any especially annoying bridge irritation with those. (But now that you mention it, I will probably think about the bridge area all night and realize that YES, that is really annoying )

Before you give up, you might try adjusting the pressure, the straps, or use some of the various cushions that some people put on the bridge area. (I'm not the expert on that). Having said that, I suggest doing some serious mask shopping. One never has too many masks.
