Nasal Gels

Post by apneaicinisrael » Sun Apr 23, 2006 3:43 am

Dear Forum,

I have seen a variety of names mentioned over the 2 months I am here, for nasal creams/gels that soothe sore noses and help with adjustment to nasal pillows.

I have used Ayr Gel, this often is recommended.
I remember KY Gel.
I have been following the debate over Vaseline.

If anyone uses other appropriate products, can you post them here, too. I would love to see and "exhaustive list" of what the nose can try.

THANKS, as always,
AII with a red right nare.

Secarius, Roezit are two others that I know about. I have tried the Secarius and liked it but I understand the Roezit to be excellent as well.

Lansinoh (ultra purified lanolin) It is marketed for use by breastfeeding moms, so you will find it in the baby department.

Cann-Ease nasal moisturizer

Post by Mile High Sleeper » Sun Apr 23, 2006 12:41 pm

Cann-Ease Nasal Moisturizer, like Ayr Gel but without the fragrance, recommended by hospital sleep tech. Available many places on the Internet. I prefer it to Ayr Gel. Designed not to harm silicone nasal pillows.

Simply Saline makes a saline-based gel similar to Ayr. Also contains Aloe Vera. In addition to travel and dry sinuses, they market it specifically for those on "oxygen therapy."

Hopefully I won't add fire to the "great vaseline debate" but the reason I prefer the saline gels over vaseline is that they are easier to wash off/clean up in the morning. Also not as messy if it gets on bedsheets or clothing.

Vaseline - another use

Post by Bellcrest » Sun Apr 23, 2006 3:09 pm

Another good way to use the vaseline....

It works great for taking tape residue off skin. I learned this years ago with my dogs. We tape ears to get them to stand properly and muct change tape. Vaseline is one of my favourite products. I now use it for my own tape residue (mouth)
